'First Fridays' free summer concert series
returns to The Shops at Mauna Lani
Performances showcasing eclectic Big Island sounds kick off June 4
Kohala Coast, Hawai'i - The Shops at Mauna Lani today announced the return of its free summer concert series dubbed "First Fridays at The Shops." Beginning on Friday, June 4, the shopping complex will host music performances at its outdoor stage on the first Friday evening of every month.
Like last summer’s inaugural season, the series will feature a diverse array of local sounds, from contemporary Hawaiian to jazz. The June summer debut will feature a two-hour set from Poncho Man beginning at 6 p.m. Popular jazz cat Bill Noble will take the stage in July.
"Island sounds and summer go hand-in-hand," said Bill Borkan, owner of The Shops at Mauna Lani. "We’re proud to showcase our skilled Big Island music makers in a no-cost concert for our community. These artists are some of the most talented in the world."
Participating center merchants will also offer shopping incentives and kama‘aina specials at each "First Friday" event.
First Fridays at The Shops schedule:
- June 4: Poncho Man
- July 2: Bill Noble Jazz Band
- August 6: To Be Announced
