The Shops at Mauna Lani Welcomes Hulakai
Kohala Coast, Hawaii’s Big Island - The Shops at Mauna Lani announced today the addition of Hulakai, a surfboard, stand up paddleboard and surf apparel lifestyle store. The new 1,397 square foot store is located across from the beautiful water feature center stage and will be open beginning Monday, December 13th.
Hulakai originally formed in 1997 when owner Jun Balanga began shaping longboards in Puako. Jun’s first stand up paddleboard was shaped in 2001, well before the current popularity of stand up paddleboards. Currently Hulakai is Hawaii’s #1 selling stand up paddleboard maker.
Hulakai boards are known for their stability, along with their versatile and innovative design. Owner Sarah Taylor-Balanga stated it clearly when she said “Hulakai is a CORE surf/sup company with emphasis on the sport”. Hulakai is the Board Sponsor for the world stand up paddle board Tour that is ending on the Big Island this month in Hilo.
There will be a full line of surf boards, paddleboards, beach gear, board shorts, swimwear, children’s clothing, ding repair, and accessories available at The Shops at Mauna Lani store. There are also surfing and standup paddleboard lessons, kayak and beach rentals, snorkel tours, Hawaiian sailing canoes and a whole lot more at the Hulakai location at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows beach area.
