The Shops at Mauna Lani Adds Juice, Smoothie Bar
'Juice 101' to serve healthy fuel for body and mind inspired by local ingredients
Kohala Coast, Hawai‘i – The Shops at Mauna Lani today announced the addition of a new restaurant.
“Juice 101,” a juice, smoothie and coffee bar providing healthy fuel for the body and mind, is slated to open in January 2010. Created by restaurateurs Denise Walters and Matthew Zubrod, the eatery features hand-pressed vegetables, fruit juices and smoothies, and an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients and general well being from food. The shop will also serve healthy selections such as pressed sandwiches and salads.
"We are pleased to welcome Denise, Matthew and their team," said Bill Borkan, owner of The Shops at Mauna Lani. "Juice 101 offers yet another dimension to The Shops at Mauna Lani experience and is another indicator that, despite global economic challenges, merchants recognize that Hawaii and The Shops at Mauna Lani still offer a vibrant marketplace with vast opportunity for success. Plus, Juice 101’s healthy alternatives blend well with the world-class spa facilities nearby at The Fairmont Orchid and Mauna Lani Bay Hotel.”
The new restaurant opens on the heels of the arrival of Hawaii’s first and only 4-D theater. Dubbed “The Great 4-D Movie Ride,” the 24-seat theater opened in late November, showing 3-D features and simulated “rides” synchronized with full-range motion seats, surround sound and in-theater “4-D” effects, such as blown air and water spray.
The Shops at Mauna Lani is the premier destination on the Kohala Coast for live island music, world-class shopping and fine dining. Restaurants include Tommy Bahama’s Tropical Café and Ruth’s Chris Steak House. The Shops is also home to Hawaii’s most distinct art galleries, including Peter Lik Gallery, Third Dimension Gallery and Lahaina Galleries, as well as popular merchants such as Oasis Lifestyle and Foodland Farms gourmet market.
